The Mindful Birth® Hypnobirthing Course

You may already know that hypnobirthing is a proven & widely used set of techniques that help a woman give birth in the most relaxed way. Breathing, visualisation and positive reinforcement are the foundations of the various techniques that are taught.

Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present & aware of where you are and what you're doing. It stops us from feeling overwhelmed or anxious by what's going on around us. In order to practice mindfulness for such a big and unpredictable event in our lives such as birthing a baby, it is important to be educated on the process, along with our birth partners and understand how we can navigate any unexpected turns. Only then, we are fully prepared, can we truly practise mindfulness and enjoy the journey.

Mindful Birth courses bring these two concepts together to prepare parents by focusing on the mind-body connection, helping them to focus on what is in their control and let go of what is out of their control.

This concept can apply to every single birthing scenario, from home water birth to planned or unplanned abdominal birth and everything in between. Parents who take Mindful Birth course feel prepared to meet their baby and go on to begin parenthood feeling good about the choices they made in preparation for and during birth.

Who can join a course?

The beauty of The Mindful Birth® hypnobirthing course is that they are designed for any type of birth, whether you are looking for a drug free birth, planned epidural birth or a planned abdominal birth and can be flexible to your individual circumstances. They are suitable whether you are a first, second, third or fourth time parent. It is entirely up to you whether you attend the course on your own or with a birth partner. You have the option of booking onto a group course or private (face to face or zoom). To find out more and talk about what might be the best option for you please get in touch.

When is the best time to start a course?

Practise, practise, practise is key and therefore I would recommend starting the course from around 20 weeks. This will give you plenty of time to listen to the audio's on a regular basis in the lead up to your baby's birth. However, it really is never to late to do the course and I would still recommend doing the course if you are nearing your due date and have only just considered doing hypnobrthing.

If you are looking for a little more birth preparation you may like to combine this course with the Pregnancy and Birth class offering gentle yoga moves and breathing techniques. Please see Pregnancy and Birth class page for more information.
